By four in the afternoon Cornwallis had ordered the army into postion.The Jaegers and the Light infantry marched down Birmingham Road, first in column, then in line, veering off to the left torwards the American right wing. The Jaegers, along with the light infantry companies of the 17th and 42nd Regiments, advanced north on Street Road, then cutting through Thornbury Farm to out flank the American right wing. "They saw the enemy waiting for them in the woods, wanting them to form in the bare fields...so I had them greeted by our amusette and this began our participation." noted colonel Ludwig Wurmb. The amussette is a large musket, typically firing a 1" diameter ball and sometimes mounted on a travelling limber, or a fortress wall.
